Pre-Ride InspectionUpdated 4 hours ago

Performing a quick inspection before every ride helps ensure your safety, optimal performance, and the longevity of your TM-B. Review this checklist prior to riding.

1. Quick Safety & System Checks

  • Lighting & Signals: Verify that the front headlight, rear taillight, and turn signals are operating properly. Ensure reflectors are clean and secure.

  • Brakes & Controls: Test front and rear brakes for firm engagement. Inspect control cables for damage, sharp bends, or fraying.

  • Tires & Wheels: Check tire pressure and inspect tread for wear, cuts, or embedded debris. Ensure wheel fasteners are securely torqued.

  • Drive Belt & Bearings: Confirm the belt is clean, running smoothly, and correctly tensioned. Ensure the bearings in the stem, wheels, and pedals rotate freely without grinding, play, or noise.

2. Frame & Component Hardware

  • Top Frame Latch: Lower the Top Frame into place toe-first, then heel-down until the electronic lock engages. Gently push in all directions to verify there is no looseness or play.

  • Handlebars & Seat: Verify that handlebar stem bolts and seat post fasteners are firmly clamped in place and haven’t shifted or loosened.

  • Accessories & Cargo: Confirm all mounted accessories (child seats, Passenger Kit, Cargo Buckets, or MIK equipment) are firmly secured before departure.

3. Battery & Electronics

  • Battery Seating: After inserting the battery, ensure electronic lock engages, the battery is firmly seated in place with no play or movement, and the screen displays the charge level.

  • Portal Display: Wake and unlock the display, and note the remaining battery range before setting off. Do not ignore any warnings or fault codes present.

4. Environmental Considerations

  • Cold Weather Operation: Below 40°F (4°C), lithium-ion batteries may experience temporary voltage sag, leading to reduced overall range and power output.

  • Hot Weather & Thermal Management: Thermal sensors monitor key components. Under high temperatures, power output will automatically be reduced to protect internal electronics. In extreme hot or cold conditions, TM-B may not operate.
