Recommended Service IntervalsUpdated 2 months ago

Ideal Service Intervals — ALSO TM-B

Before Every Ride (Pre-Ride Check)

Quick checks take less than 5 minutes and prevent most on-road failures:

  • Tires: Check pressure and inspect for punctures or cuts.

  • Brakes: Test lever feel and stopping power.

  • Belt tension and alignment: Visual check — belt should be centered and tension firm but not overly tight.

  • Suspension: Bounce the bike to confirm normal damping and no leaks.

  • Battery (if e-bike): Verify secure mounting and charge level.

Battery Care

  • Charge regularly: Keep the battery charged between 30%–80% when not in use. Avoid fully discharging it.

  • Inspect connections: Check the charging port and connectors for dirt, moisture, or corrosion.

  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or freezing temperatures.

Every 150-300 miles (or Monthly for Frequent Riders)

  • Clean the bike: Use a soft brush and mild soap (avoid high-pressure hoses).

  • Inspect belt: Look for fraying, embedded debris, or uneven wear. Clean with water only — never oil or degreaser.

  • Brake pads: Inspect for wear (<1 mm pad thickness = replace).

  • Suspension pivots: Check for looseness or creaking.

  • Bolt torque: Check all fasteners, especially crank bolts, suspension pivots, and brake calipers.

  • Firmware/software (e-bike): Check for updates and recalibrate sensors. ALSO will alert riders of any firmware or software updates via email, or the TM-B app.

Every 600-1000 miles (or Every 3–6 Months)

  • Belt drive system:

    • Clean thoroughly with water and soft brush.

    • Recheck alignment and tension using a manufacturer tool (e.g., Gates app).

  • Hydraulic brakes:

    • Inspect hoses for wear or leaks.

    • Top up fluid if the lever feels soft (bleed only if needed).

  • Wheel hubs and bearings: Spin and check for play or roughness.

  • Suspension:

    • Clean stanchions and seals.

    • Check sag setup and air pressure against manufacturer specs.

Every 1250–2000 miles (or Annually)

This is a major service level for most riders.

  • Hydraulic brake bleed: Fully flush and replace brake fluid (DOT or mineral oil per manufacturer).

  • Suspension service:

    • Lower leg service (fork) and air can service (rear shock): clean, replace oil and seals.

    • Replace wiper seals and check bushings.

  • Headset and bottom bracket: Clean and regrease or replace bearings.

  • Pivot bearings: Check for play; replace if movement or noise is felt.

  • Full safety inspection: Frame, belt sprockets, mounting hardware, and electrical cables.

Every 2500–3500 miles (or Every 2 Years)

  • Suspension full rebuild: Complete damper and air spring service (send to certified service center if needed).

  • Hydraulic system: Replace hoses and fittings if worn.

  • Belt drive sprockets: Replace if teeth are sharp or hooked.

  • Wheel rebuild or bearing overhaul if frequent off-road or e-MTB use.

Key Notes

  • The belt drive system typically lasts 9,000–20,000 miles, far longer than chains if properly tensioned and kept clean.

  • Avoid oil-based cleaners or solvents on the belt, brakes, or suspension seals.

  • Riding in wet, dusty, or salted road conditions can cause significant impacts to shorten service intervals for suspension and brakes.

  • Always torque bolts to manufacturer specs (See torque spec sheet in Owners Manual and Service Manual).

WARNING: Incorrect assembly, maintenance, or use of your ebike can cause component or performance failure, loss of control, or serious injury. Ebikes have parts that non-motorized bikes do not have, and neither the assembly steps and/or assembly videos cover all potential aspects of ebike configuration, maintenance, and repair, which can require specialized tools and skills. We strongly recommend you consult a professional, or reputable bike mechanic to assist in the assembly, repair, and maintenance of your ebike, or inspect your work if you choose to do it yourself.
