What happens when the battery is low or dead?Updated 2 months ago
What happens when my ALSO e-bike battery is at a low state of charge?
When an ALSO battery reaches low levels, the DreamRide™ system transitions through two protective modes: Conserve Mode (at 10%) and Infinite Turtle Mode (at 3%). These modes are designed to prevent you from being stranded by intelligently prioritizing remaining energy for essential systems like lights and displays.
1. Conserve Mode (Approx. 10% Charge)
When your battery level drops to roughly 10%, the bike automatically activates Conserve Mode to maximize your remaining range.
- Functionality: You retain access to both pedal assist and the throttle.
- Performance Change: Maximum power output and top speed are electronically limited.
- Primary Goal: To extend the battery's remaining life sufficiently to help you reach a safe destination with electric assistance.
2. Infinite Turtle Mode (Approx. 3% Charge)
If the battery level reaches approximately 3%, the bike transitions into Infinite Turtle Mode.
- Functionality: All electric motor assistance and throttle functionality are disabled.
- Rider Experience: The bike operates like a conventional bicycle, powered entirely by your pedaling.
- Essential Systems: The remaining battery power is reserved exclusively to keep the display and safety lights operational.
- Primary Goal: To ensure the bike remains rideable and visible without the resistance of a shut-down motor system.
Pro Tips for Battery Management
To ensure a seamless riding experience, follow these best practices:
- Pre-Ride Check: Always complete a full charge before embarking on long-distance routes.
- Active Monitoring: Regularly check your real-time battery percentage and/or range on the integrated display.
- Route Planning: Identify charging stops for long journeys and bring your 240w power adapter with.
